HMS Daring, the Type 45 air defence destroyer was the first of the Type 45s to fly the white ensign since she was formally accepted by the Royal Navy on 10th December 2008.
The Type 45 represents a significant increasein the air defence capability of the Royal Navy in comparison to the class she and her sister-ships are replacing.
She is also used in a variety of other roles.
