British artist Howard Robinson was born in the north east of England in 1959. After five years of formal training in graphic design and illustration, he earned a BA with honours in 1980 from Brighton Polytechnic. He then returned to his native county of Durham, where he resides. He is married with two children.

Howard has worked as an illustrator for over twenty years and has won many awards for his artwork. He has lectured part time in Natural History Illustration at both Sunderland University and New College -Durham.

He excels in all forms of wildlife, although his main interest is in birds. In 1990, he received the Randall Cup for outstanding contributions to the activities of the Australian Finch Society. He also maintains a large collection of unusual plants.

Although realistic in nature, his style and interpretation of his subjects lend itself to commercial applications and as such his images are published worldwide. His work can be found on numerous products including Jigsaws, Fine China, Stationery and Book Jackets to name but a few. His colourful and endearing images are regularly used on the background sets of TV shows and even Hollywood movies.
